RESULTS OF ELECTRONIC WASTE COLLECTION 2024
4. 2. 2025
RETELA, a specialist in the collection and recycling of photovoltaic panels, has fulfilled all legal obligations of manufacturers, including partial collection quotas.
RETELA, a collective system for the take-back of electrical equipment, collected 5.4 thousand tons of electronic waste in 2024, achieving 65% of the legally mandated collection quota. RETELA also successfully met legal obligations in all partial categories (Group 1 – heat exchange equipment, Group 2 – TVs and monitors, Group 3 – light sources).
The company was founded in 2005 and has established a stable position in the market among collective systems. The main goal of the collective system is environmental protection by ensuring the collection and subsequent recycling of electronic waste. For its clients (manufacturers and importers of electrical equipment), it fulfills comprehensive legislative obligations, including take-back, processing with maximum material utilization, and reporting across all categories of electrical equipment.
In 2024, RETELA implemented a new reporting system, RETIP, which brings numerous benefits, including the integration of reporting and invoicing. This innovation simplifies processes for partners and increases the transparency of the entire system.
The environmental savings can be expressed based on an environmental assessment known as LCA analysis. Thanks to the recycling of more than 5.4 thousand tons of electronic waste, savings of over 235 thousand cubic meters of water or 1.4 million liters of oil were achieved. The conservation of such an amount of oil is equivalent to the amount needed to drive 20 million kilometers in a standard passenger car.
The managing director of RETELA, Jaroslav Vladík, Ph.D., states:
“Even in 2024, we have fulfilled all legal obligations for our clients, including strict collection quotas in individual categories of end-of-life products. We have also dedicated great efforts to educating the public on handling waste solar panels. I would like to thank all our clients for their trust and appreciate the cooperation with our partners and collaborating organizations, without whom we would not have achieved these results.”
